Appstate’s participation in the NC Science Festival
Appalachian State University is proud to host multiple official NC Science Festival events each year. These events spark interest and excitement in STEM fields that last all year.
Our signature event is the ASU STEAM Expo (STEAM = Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics). The Expo is held annually in the Holmes Convocation Center on Appstate’s main campus in Boone, NC. The main Expo floor is an open house with exciting, hands-on booths representing astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, health sciences, physics, psychology and much, much more! We also have science demo shows, hands-on learning events, and tours of our research facilities available for booking on Expo day.
Other Appstate NC Science Festival events include astronomy open houses at ASU’s Dark Sky Observatory and Rankin Astronomical Observatory, chemistry and physics demo shows, the annual SumoBot competition with Lego robot wars, and fascinating, free talks on STEM topics hosted by the Math and Science Education Center and the Psychology Department.
